Clearing the SD Card

Here are some pictures from the last week! I'm clearing my camera's card to make room for more pictures (and to eliminate the possibility of my 6 year old deleting pictures on accident again).

New Furry Friend

The kids have been begging (okay, I've begged a lot too) us for a dog, but we kept turning them down. Patrick had an issue with the cost of a dog, both for basic care as well as the deposit and extra rent each month. It seems the management of our apartments really doesn't want residents to have pets, so they make people jump through hoops and pay out the nose just to have a cat or a dog. With Patrick's new job and significantly raised pay, we decided we could swing the cost and get a furry companion. We talked about it for a few weeks, and made the trip to the Humane Society on Friday evening. Boy, that was a royal pain! I had been checking their website for nearly a week hoping to find a dog we would like enough to adopt. All I came across were chihuahuas and big dogs (management has placed a 25lb weight limit on pets here). I was disappointed for sure! Then, I saw a picture of a female dog described as follows: Chihuahua, long haired mix. I was confused because she looked nothing like a Chihuahua. In fact, she looked more like the terrier from Lady and the
Tramp. She had the sweetest little face, and she was small enough for our place too. We decided we wanted to meet her and see if she would be a good fit for our family, but when we got to the Humane Society, she wasn't in her cage. The staff had trouble locating her as well until they realized she had been taken to the Petco out near our home. Well, if we had known that first, we wouldn't have driven clear into Murray. We could've just gone down the street. Oh well! We called the rep at the Petco, found out she was still going to be there, and we could go and meet the dog. The description on her cage informed us she was good with other dogs, good with kids, and had previously lived with a 2 year old. Well, if she could handle a two year old, she could certainly handle my kiddos! She instantly took to us as well! She was jumping up to get pet, wagging her tail, and licking us like crazy! We knew she would be the dog for us, and within an hour, we were taking our new little friend home! Meet Lilo, our adorably sweet, 6lb Chihuahua/Terrier mix!

Lilo's previous owners took her to the Humane Society because they claimed she was a house soiler. I don't know what went on in that home, but she's doing great with us! Not one accident so far, and she lets us know when she needs to go out. She's eating well, settling in well, and the only issue we have is she's a chewer. She has gnawed on a few little toys, but the kids are getting better at remembering to keep their doors shut when they are playing or when they are not in their rooms. Lilo is great with the kids! She loves to chase and be chased, she likes to fetch, and loves it when they talk to her and pet her. She's also very tolerant of her big sister's fascination with carrying her around like she's a baby. We really got lucky with this sweetheart, and can't even imagine life without her!

3 Years Old

My baby turned 3 on Sunday, and as hard as it is for me to watch him get bigger (especially since he's the youngest), I was so excited for his birthday to come around this year. He is finally at an age where he gets excited about special days, and he knew Sunday was all about him. He walked around all morning telling us all it was his birthday, and he kept singing to himself. We spent the afternoon at my aunt and uncle's house (which is funny since we did the same thing on P Man's birthday). Buddy passed the time outside playing with his siblings, the dogs, and entertaining himself alone when everyone else was in the house. Once home, we shared some Wreck it Ralph decorated cake which he picked out all by himself the day before. Happy Birthday, my sweet little guy! Mommy loves you!

Some facts about my 3 year old:

Buddy is great at entertaining himself. He's always been an independent kid. He likes to do his own thing regardless of what everyone else in the room is doing. He will say hello and wave at everyone, but is particular about who he will interact with. He doesn't like people to hold him.

He makes the funniest noises and talks in silly voices.

He looks to the side or up when he's feeling shy, and gets this really cheesy grin on his face.

He likes to pull apart everything before eating it.

He loves super heroes, and when playing with his action figures, he makes sound effects for them.

He has started making his toys talk to each other.

He is such a good speaker. His sentences are easy to understand, and it seems he picks up new words everyday.

He is still a cuddly boy. He loves to climb into my lap with a blanket and snuggle.

He thinks he gets to control who can and can't sing in the car.

He loves Wreck it Ralph, Scooby Doo, Batman, Spongebob, and Mickey Mouse.

Birthday Parties

I know, I know, I'm such a slacker! I've been so busy lately, and just couldn't find the time to do much of anything online except check my fb quickly, but I'm back now. Last weekend, we had the boys' birthday parties, and we all had so much fun decorating and hanging out with family. Saturday night, Patrick's family came over, and we had my family on Sunday afternoon. When I went to the party store to buy balloons, I went a little overboard. Once all the balloons were blown up, I realized we had way more than we would know what to do with. Patrick wanted me to pop the extras, but I said no way to that! We taped them to the walls, and on Sunday, we created a crate paper and balloon web on the ceiling. Here are the pictures of my cutie pies from the parties (we let Miss B take pictures too, so some of them aren't the greatest, but she did a good job!)
